GC Rieber subsea vessel lands West African extension

GC Rieber Shipping has had the extension option exercised for its subsea construction vessel Polar Onyx, currently operating off West Africa.

The vessel was snapped up on a four-month time charter agreement in March, with a two-month extension option, which now exercised will see the vessel continue with its contract until the end of August

Polar Onyx was built in 2014 and went straight on a five-year charter to Ceona, to be used for advanced deep-water operations with Petronas in Brazil. GC Rieber Shipping terminated the contract due to default in September 2015 and two weeks later Ceona went into administration.
