Globe Tracker: Reefer innovation

Copenhagen: Intermodal 45-foot container manufacturing pioneer UNIT45 has partnered with Globe Tracker International, a leader in global supply chain visibility, to offer the first commercial smart refrigerated container. The system will combine data from the refrigeration unit with data collected from wireless sensors reporting condition and security variables from both inside and outside the container. The compilation of this data offers, what the two companies claim is “a true picture of cargo–in–transit” and reduces risk and loss.

Global Tracker International is a privately held Danish company focused on supply chain visibility and profitability. Its ceo, Jim Davis, tells Maritime CEO the solution created with UNIT45 was a result of listening to what the customer wanted. Davis says this year is to focus on enhancing Globe Tracker’s distributed hierarchical cloud network and optimising its core product portfolio.

“Globe Tracker’s goal in 2015 is to guarantee its customers 100% secure data and communications reliability anywhere in the world. Globe Tracker and its technology partners will focus on enhancing the already broad portfolio of GT compatible wireless sensors that monitor critical operational parameters across the supply chain,” says Davis.
