Goldenport offloads containership

London: Greek dry bulk and small containership owner Goldenport Holdings has sold 2,113 teu containership Thira (28,370 dwt, built 1997) for $6.85m.

The vessel was sold to BSL Thira Shipping which indicates Balaji Shipping, part of the Transworld Group, as the likely new owner. It is scheduled for delivery today.

Goldenport said that after brokerage it expects to realize a book profit of around $2.4m on the disposal, which will be applied towards the repayment of debt secured against the vessel and increasing the company’s liquidity.

The sale leaves Goldenport, which recently revealed itself as an acquisiton target for an unknown buyer, with five containerships ranging between 976 and 5,551 teu.
