Great Eastern offloads aframax for $13.5m

India’s Great Eastern has sold the aframax tanker Jag Laxmi to Soechi for $13.5m.

A month ago, a similarly aged and sized tanker fetched $2.1m more. The 17-year-old ship is one of very few tanker sales in the current market.

Broker Clarkson Platou reported that “owners are still reluctant to lower their asking price, driven by the relatively strong freight market, resulting in few transactions materialising”.
