Guangzhou Huangpu starts marketing pair of ultramaxes

Broking sources tell Splash Guangzhou Huangpu Shipbuilding has started marketing a pair of ultramaxes that Hong Kong’s KC Maritime has rejected despite having put down a 30% instalment on the bulkers.

KC Maritime failed to respond to questions from Splash today.

The two 64,000 dwt ships, Darya Rani and Darya Maya, were completed in March this year, but Splash understands KC Maritime decided not to take them. The yard is now marketing them for $16.9m each. The ships are each equipped with four 30 tonne cranes.

KC Maritime has been linked to many ship sales this year as it rapidly shrinks its fleet. KC Maritime is the Hong Kong dry bulk arm of the Chelleram family.
