Honduras latest port to join ICTSI’s portfolio

 

Manila: The Philippines’ International Container Terminal Services, Inc (ICTSI) has on a tender to design, build and operate a terminal at Puerto Cortes in Honduras, bolstering its global footprint. The contract stipulates ICTSI can run the port for a period of 30 years.
 
Under the plans submitted the new port will have 1.1 km of quayside for containers and 400 m for general cargo and a draft alongside of 14 m. The whole port area is around 62 hectares and when up and running will boast an annual handling capacity of 1.8m teu.
 
ICTSI is involved in 27 terminals in 19 countries worldwide. The operator said at the start of this year it aims to sign 10 port contracts in the next 10 years pursuing emerging market opportunities.  [05/02/13]
