Hong Kong drums up support for Kai Tak

Hong Kong: As the clock ticks down to this summer’s grand opening of Hong Kong’s new cruise terminal in Kai Tak, local authorities are going all out to ensure there will be plenty of business for the shark-tooth styled state-of-the-art facility.
The city will host its first cruise forum in Hung Hom's Hotel Icon from January 21 to 24 with the likes of Carnival, Azamara Club Cruises, Royal Caribbean, Crystal Cruises and Star Cruises all in attendance.

16 cruise ships are scheduled to berth in Kai Tak this year. Last year, cruise passengers staying overnight spent an average of HK$4,833 per day, twice as much as conventional tourists. The second berth at Kai Tak is expected by 2015.  [14/01/13]
