Hurghada port crippled by protesters

Cairo: Hurghada Port dockworkers are closing the port for the third time this month, demanding employment.

For the third time this month, Hurghada port was closed as the dockworkers declared an open strike until they achieve their demands of employment from the port authority.

Dozens of dockworkers blocked the port of Hurghada yesterday, objecting that the minister of transport did not carry out his promises to them, which they described as flimsy promises and fiery statements and especially as they met with the minister last week in his office in Cairo, and he promised them employment during the meeting, but until this moment he has not implemented his promises. The port remains closed as its workers block the main gate to the Egyptian Red Sea port.  [15/04/13]
