Hyundai Samho reveals $200m price tag of latest NYK LNG carrier contract

South Korean shipbuilder Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries (HSHI) has revealed the price tag of an LNG ship just ordered by Japan’s Nippon Yusen Kaisha (NYK). The Japanese shipping major is paying $200m for a 174,000 cu m vessel that will deliver in 2020.

This is the first contract from Japan in 13 years for Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries, an affiliate of Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI).

The ship will go on charter to EDF LNG Shipping, a subsidiary of Electricité de France (EDF), to for seven years, with options available for up to 13 additional years.
