Indonesian maritime interest picks up

Jakarta: Consistently where there are nascent signs of maritime growth exhibition organisers move in. Now two of the world’s largest exhibition organisers are set to go head-to-head in Jakarta. Reed, the organisers of Singapore’s top shipping event Asia-Pacific Maritime, is taking the lead, launching an Indonesian maritime exhibition next year with local partner Panorama. Not to be left behind, UBM, organisers of Sea Japan and Marintec China, is joining with another local organiser to put on a big show at the Jakarta International Expo in November 2014. An agreement has yet to be signed for the UBM show, which might be called Marintec Indonesia, but sources at UBM are optimistic it can kick off with a first show of 2,000 sq m in size.  [19/09/12]
