INEOS selects DSIC to build the world’s largest ethane carrier

Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Co will build the world’s largest ethane carrier for chemical giant INEOS. The 95,000 cu m ship will ship American produced ethane to China. No price has been revealed for the record breaking ship, which Splash understands will deliver in the second half of 2019.

INEOS has been leading the way in transporting American ethane to Europe. With a new cracker facility set to open in Taixing in Jiangsu province near Shanghai, INEOS has sealed the first deal to supply the site.

The giant new ship will be operated by Evergas, a unit of Jaccar Group, which has also operated the ships INEOS has deployed from the US to Europe over the past couple of years.
