integrum: Bye bye to spreadsheets

Sydney: The days of companies running off Microsoft Excel need to come to an end, argues a software expert in today’s Maritime CEO interview. Australian company integrum Management Solutions is a software solution for integrated management systems, namely around QHSE, risk and compliance and operational management.

Says ceo Beven Schwaiger, “It is incredible to think still in 2015 that most companies are running their reporting and corporate visibility on spreadsheets.”

In 2015, the main focus areas of integrum’s customers are around mobility, business intelligence and integration to third party systems.

The ability for staff to capture field data on their mobile devices in real time and submit into their corporate business systems is in big demand in 2015, Schwaiger says.

Similarly the desire to have this data available on meaningful dashboards to have a full 360 view of the company’s business, be it for compliance, quality, safety or operational issues, is very important, he adds.

Integration is a another hot demand topic – namely the ability to integrate with existing systems to bring data out, or to talk between systems.

While admitting maritime and offshore markets are challenging this year, Schwaiger still sees some grounds for optimism for his business.

“There are signs out of Europe and Asian shipping sectors that the need for improved compliance and safety management systems driven by international regulations and market expectations, allowing customers to understand that improved safety and operating systems will also result in better performance, efficiencies and cost savings in the long run. The ROI is obvious,” he says.
