Our client, who is one of the most well-known and oldest ocean cargo insurance companies in the industry, is looking to add a Senior Inland Marine Underwriter to join their team at their growing Dallas branch.
The ideal candidate will be an experienced Inland Marine Underwriter with 5+ years of experience in order to serve in a leadership capacity to other Underwriters.
Responsibilities will include:
Ensure that underwriting practices and guidelines are understood and adhered to, specifically focusing upon pricing, risk selection, mix of business, flow management and quality analysis
Utilize QA and referral programs to identify opportunities to ensure functional and regulatory integrity of the book of business and overall compliance with segment guidelines
Provide leadership and advice to staff in regard to underwriting risks
Represent the company at networking functions and other industry-related events that present and promote departmental initiatives to other external constituencies as appropriate
Desired skills and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree required
5+ years of industry experience underwriting in the marine and hull liability arena
Leadership capabilities with a sound influence in dealing with challenging situations
Inland Marine industry knowledge a must
IIA and CPCU designation strongly preferred
Strong ability to partner with internal and external clients
Sales-minded with the ability to significantly contribution to underwriting profits, and continually seek opportunities for niche products and potential agent opportunities
Demonstrates knowledge of the Inland Marine external market and contributes to the development of business strategy
