Our client is a well-known shipping company that provides vessels with the facilities and services needed, they are currently on the lookout for Commercial Manager ( Joinery )  to be based in Singapore.

 Job responsibilities

  • To identify and make contact with potential new customers with a view to securing new projects long term.
  • To follow up leads and enquiries from potential new clients.
  • To develop and maintain a professional relationship with existing and new clients to ensure they are satisfied with the company’s performance and to identify their future needs and requirements, advising on how Coulson Joinery can meet those needs.
  • To achieve set turnover targets/budget targets.
  • Preparation of tenders through close liaison with the Senior Estimator.
  • Complete surveys and produce pricing documents and contract terms.
  • Work closely with the project team; ensure optimum delivery of  the project whilst exercising control of costs, procurement and management of the supply chain.
  • Responsibility for ensuring risk is managed and contractual issues are looked after in the company’s best interest.
  • Preparation and agreement of final accounts.
  • Dispute resolution/settlement of contractual claims.
  • Keep  the   Board  of   Directors  informed  of   market  opportunities  and   business development.
  • To take a proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation in all aspects of the job.
  • To develop and implement change and improvements in ways of working.
  • Assist with the introduction and development of information technology/management systems in order to optimise and improve working practices and procedures and assist in training others in the use of these systems.
  • All duties and responsibilities should be carried out in accordance with agreed Coulson Policy and Procedures, giving regard to Coulson policy commitments to efficient service provision, promotion of Equal Opportunities and Diversity, Corporate Social Responsibility and good employee relations.
  • Any other duties the Company may reasonably require. Having at all times full regard for the departments competitiveness, efficiency and general viability.

Health Safety & Environment

  • Take reasonable care of your own health and safety in the workplace and that of others who may be affected by your work and raise any health and safety issues with your manager or the Health and Safety Director.
  • Comply with the commitments set out in the Company’s Environmental and Waste Management Policies.

Quality

  • A hands-on approach and a commitment to provide a high quality, client focused service with an ethos of “right first time on time”.
  • Ensure that project delivery is completed in accordance with the Company’s Quality Management System.

Communication

  • Promote through regular liaison, a customer service culture which emphasises a client partnership.
  • Encourage  others  in  the  department  to  communicate  and  build  effective  working relationships with the client.

Skills/Knowledge

  • A  good  knowledge  of  building  and/or  joinery  industry  practices,  processes  and requirements.
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Understanding of budget management
  • Ability to communicate and interact with relevant stakeholders including clients and staff.
  • Knowledge of the tender preparation process Able to work to timescales and under pressure Demonstrate adaptability in meeting client needs.
  • Possess  a  good  level  of  practical  skill  in  the  use  of  Microsoft  Office packages, estimating packages and Company specific software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD software
  • Up to date knowledge of Health and Safety matters. A thorough understanding of contract law.
  • Possess an excellent understanding of commercial and financial matters
  • Able to represent the Company professionally when dealing with clients, design teams and others.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Experience of managing and leading a team. Experience of client focused service delivery.
  • Proven experience in the management and delivery of projects
