Description

Overall responsibility for fleet maintenance and upgrade of navigation and safety gear on US flagged Great Lakes vessels:

  • Ensure compliance with Class Society and US Coast Guard regulations
  • Stay abreast of maritime technology improvements and upcoming regulations which would affect vessel navigation systems and procedures
    • Recommend upgades and replacement of equipment
      • Radar
      • ECDIS
      • Radio
      • GPS
      • Gyro
      • Autopilot
      • Depth Sounder
    • Follow maintenance and warranty procedures
  • Perform shipboard equipment inspections and effect repairs
  • Travel as required to vessels in the Great Lakes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with shipboard electronics
  • Previous US Navy; US Coast Guard; or US Marines experience is valued
  • Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement
  • Ability to multi-task and deal with operational pressure and time frames
  • Proficient with office software and ability to generate reports
  • Ability to effectively communicate with key stakeholders including: vessel Master and Chief Engineer; Port Engineer; Customers; Class and Flag State representatives; and equipment suppliers and subcontractors
  • Experience with Furuno; Mackay; Transas; Radio Holland; Sperry; JRC

Expected travel is between 20-30% and may include weekend or holiday travel depending upon operational requirement of the vessel.

Successful candidates will be asked to undergo a pre-employment drug screen and background check.
