A world leader in marine and offshore electronics has an immediate opening in their New Jersey office for a Marine Service Technician.
Under limited supervision, the technician will install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships. Responsibilities include: testing, adjusting, and troubleshooting components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas; as well as, loading, updating, and modifying software. The technician will utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They will make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments. Upon completing the assignment, the technician will compose a detailed service report.
Types of equipment serviced:
HF and VHF Radios
3+ years of experience as a MET or AT acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines a plus.
3+ years of experience as a MSE or MET in commercial shipping.
Associate’s Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience.
Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
Be physically fit. Work environment often involves carrying 20 – 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
Have reliable transportation to transport equipment, tools, and commute to/from jobs.
