Marine Project Engineer

Integral part of shipowner's team responsible to oversee installation and commissioning of ship's systems, particularly BWTS and SOx Scrubber systems during shipyard periods.
  • Assist in conceptual design and bid specification development
  • Prepare and maintain cost models and project cash flow reports
  • Review bids and make recommendations for selection
  • Review selection of major and minor equipment and vendors
  • Liaise with contractors, Class, regulators, vendors, and shipyards to ensure timely compliance with technical and cost requirements.
  • Inspect and assist supervision of physical installation work
  • Provide expertise and guidance in scrubber technology and regulatory impact

Preferred Qualifications:
• BS in related engineering field (Marine, Mechanical, Naval Architecture, Environmental)
• 5+ years in the Maritime industry. Increasing responsibility throughout career with leadership role(s)
• Sailed as Chief, First, or Second Engineer on large class ships preferred, not required
• Must have STCW’s or willing to complete a 10 day course
• Project Management, Port Engineering, or Technical Superintendent background a plus
• Strong technical and analytic skills to ensure proper equipment selection, implementation, and operation
• Leadership and management ability to properly plan and execute 2+ projects simultaneously.
• Working knowledge of IACS Class Society standards, codes, and compliance requirements
• Strong time management skills to keep project(s) moving forward
• Strong communication skills as collaboration with multiple parties will be necessary
• Knowledgeable in maritime regulatory framework, rules and guidelines as they relate to fuel, exhaust, and scrubber specification
