Port Engineer - Honolulu, HI
Job Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Port Engineer to manage a fleet of research vessels. The Port Engineer will oversee the maintenance and repair of a fleet of vessels. The successful candidate will work closely with the Operations team to ensure the timely and cost-effective completion of all vessel projects.
Key Responsibilities for the Port Engineer:
- Develop and oversee maintenance programs for our fleet, including routine inspections, repairs, and upgrades
- Work closely with the Operations team to ensure that all vessel maintenance and repair projects are completed on time and within budget
- Act as a technical advisor to the Operations team, providing guidance and support on vessel-related issues
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all vessel maintenance and repair activities
- Conduct regular inspections of vessels to identify any potential issues and develop plans to address them
- Spec writing and dry dock management supervision
Requirements for the Port Engineer:
- At least 5 years of experience working as a Port Engineer or similar role
- Time at sea on a senior license instead of shoreside experience will be considered
- Bachelor's degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to develop and manage technical specs and dry dock periods
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships
- Familiarity with industry regulations and standards
- Ability to work independently and be hands-on as required
