We are currently seeking a marine engineering/shipyard professional to join a global organization that identifies, sources, implements, commissions and repairs shipboard equipment in the newbuild side.
This position will be primarily situated at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, but there is potential for travel to other shipyards in the USA and internationally.
Project Manager involved in commissioning, installation, fault finding and repair of fluid control systems, including automation systems, as well as other shipboard systems on both commercial and military vessels.
Core duties include but are not limited to the following:
Install, maintain, OEM and third party products and equipment at customer’s sites.
Troubleshoot, identify, analyzes, and repair product failures.
Liaise with shipyard personnel and boat representatives to ensure smooth communication.
Commission and perform acceptance sea trails and demonstrate functionality of equipment to customers.
Provide phone support to customers as and when required.
Generate site visit reports, equipment failure reports, expense reports etc.
Plan and arrange travel schedules as required.
Maintain day to day records of activities performed.
Must have and be able to demonstrate solid hands on employment history that includes formal training and solid work experience (minimum of 3-7years) in an appropriate discipline.
B.S. Degree in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, or similar discipline.
2+ years of shipyard or seagoing experience and thorough knowledge of shipboard and shipyard procedures and policies
The ability to meet the following basic skills is required, read, write and interpret documents in English, such as technical drawings, circuit diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, etc.
The use of PC will be required for communicating and report writing.

Effective interpersonal communication, organizational skills, and initiative is required with the ability to work on own initiative and within a team.
Extensive worldwide travel, occasionally for extended periods is a basic requirement of this position, and will necessitate the flexibility to work unsociable hours, extended hours and to travel with minimal notice.
Must have a valid current Passport and Drivers license.
The nature of the work, the size and location of equipment within engine rooms etc. mean that the job can be extremely physical. Employees will be required to work at height as well as in confined spaces.
