Our client a leading MNC that provides equipment and services to the Marine & Offshore industry. The focus of this position is to ensure that the proposed solutions are in-line with external projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical design of our satellite services to meet customer requirements during the stages of bid or quote preparation. RF Team is expected to support as necessary.
  • Prepare costed bandwidth and bill of materials and work with Sales team to develop suitable bid prices that are cognisant of our land and maritime tariffs
  • Prepare capex approval analysis where applicable in line with company procedure
  • Write technical proposal and submission documents in response to RFP and Tender
  • Assist with project management and service delivery of VSAT related projects
  • Assist with configuration, installation, servicing and support of customer or company owned equipment or systems as required
  • Maintain appropriate records pertaining to projects, customers, enquiries and other activities
  • Lead customer consultation activities and/or provide relevant sales and technical support throughout the preparation of tenders or proposals
  • Assist in the implementation of satellite communications projects and planning of associated internal and external activities and timeframes
  • Provide technical solutions for customers on project specific applications
  • Provide IT/Networking support and/or solutions for customer or sales requirements
  • Participate and lead, where applicable, briefings with distributors, end customers and internal staff
  • Assist others in the pre-sales function by reviewing and vetting their written proposals


Skill Requirement

  • Minimum 7 years in Maritime VSAT, Link Budget, Product Management, Pricing and specification of telecommunications services is prefered
  • Practical experience in an IT/Networking environment and sound knowledge of voice and data networking (VPN’s, Routers, VOIP)
  • Practical experience working and liaising with technical and non-technical staff across all levels, both internal and external, ideally in an Engineering/Telecommunications or IT/IP capacity
  • Strong experience delivering multiple projects across a diverse range of remote client environments and locations
  • Working knowledge of satellite and/or telecommunications systems, including knowledge of VSAT technology and iDirect platform from technical and sales perspective;
  • Working knowledge of Cisco routing, VOIP, VPN, VLAN, SCADA (Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition) and PBX/IP configuration
  • Strong experience and knowledge of server, database technologies (Windows and Exchange)
  • Early involvement in RFP and tenders
  • Impersonal communication: mostly going to be via phone, email, webinar
  • Articulate communication: written and spoken English needs to be above average
  • Access to keeping abreast of new technologies; need journal subscriptions, symposium/ event attendance
  • Selection of “best” option (Satellite beam + hub technology + network solution) to fit a customer requirement
