JX Nippon takes Odfjell Drilling semi-submersible

JX Nippon Exploration and Production (U.K.) has contracted Odfjell Drilling semi-submersible Deepsea Stavanger for the drilling of a single well on the UK Continental Shelf.

“The contract with JX Nippon secures interim utilisation of Deepsea Stavanger before start-up of the Wintershall drilling contract in 2017,” said Simen Lieungh, CEO of Odfjell Drilling.

The contract is expected to commence in the second quarter of 2016, with the project length around 60 to 75 days.

Deepsea Stavanger finished a contract with BP in Angola in November 2015, and is currently being mobilised to Norway having completed its 5-year special periodic survey.
