Kumiai Senpaku orders pair of LPG carriers at Sasaki Zosen

In the gas carrier sector, Japanese yard Sasaki Zosen has received an order for a pair of 5,000 cu m LPG carriers from domestic owner Kumiai Senpaku.

Upon delivery, scheduled in the final quarter of 2019, the vessels will go on charter to Statoil.

The orderbook for small LPG vessels globally is one of the smallest of any ship sector.

Predominantly a dry bulk carrier, Kumiai Senpaku does have some LPG exposure with four VLGCs trading and another two VLGCs under construction at Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
