Lepta linked with Yangzijiang cape pair

Low profile Lepta Shipping is being linked by brokers as ordering one firm capesize with another on option. The Tokyo owner has gone to China’s Jiangsu Yangzijiang Shipbuilding for the Tier II compliant, 180,000 dwt firm ship, which is believed to be costing $42m. The firm ship will deliver in 2019.

Lepta has in recent years been more of a seller. Its current fleet sees three brand new ships trading at the moment – two handy bulkers and a boxship all delivered this year with one more handy bulker set to deliver next year. Lepta tends to order with long term charters in mind.
