Leading US independent offshore oil company LLOG is taking over as operator of a US Gulf of Mexico project from Spanish giant Repsol.
LLOG, a deep-water specialist headquartered in Covington, Louisiana, will operate the Buckskin prospect located in Keathley Canyon blocks 785 and 872. Repsol holds 22.5% interest in the leases.
The Buckskin prospect is offshore Louisiana in 6,978 feet of water.
LLOG has a 55% share in the prospect, which previous owner/operator Chevron withdrew from in 2015. And Danish firm Maersk Oil gave up its interest in it in 2016.
Buckskin was discovered by Repsol in 2009.
