Maersk losing $217 per feu on Oz-China trades

Dalian: Maersk is currently losing US$217 per feu shipped from Melbourne to Qingdao, according to its Australian director of sales Gerard Morrison, who was speaking at a conference attended by the Wall Street Journal in Melbourne yesterday.

"Current rates are not able to cover our costs and we cannot sustain continual losses," Morrison said. Maersk stressed however that China-Australia trades remain profitable.  [01/08/12]
