Matthew Cox promoted to chairman of Matson

Pacific shipping specialist Matson has appointed president and CEO Matthew Cox as its new chairman, succeeding Walter Dods who has reached the age of mandatory retirement in line with the company’s corporate governance guidelines.

Cox joined Matson in 2001 and has been the CEO of the company since June 2012.

Cox will continue on as CEO of Matson, and has promoted senior VP Ronald Forest to president with responsibility for company operations. Additionally, John Lauer has been promoted to CCO.

“In light of my new responsibilities as chairman, we are expanding the roles of Ron Forest and John Lauer who are proven leaders and have been integral to managing Matson’s growth over the past decade – two decades, in Ron’s case,” Cox commented.
