McDermott awarded EPCI contract on Saudi Aramco field in Persian Gulf

Houston-based McDermott International on Monday announced it has been awarded a major contract with Saudi Aramco, Saudi Arabia’s state oil company.

The deal is for engineering, procurement, construction and installation (EPCI) services for the huge Safaniya offshore field in the Persian Gulf, 165 miles north of Aramco’s headquarters in Dhahran.

While McDermott’s release about the contract did not specify the value of the deal it is one of several contracts Aramco has made recently with service companies, the total value of the contracts being around $4.5bn.
