MPC Container Ships acquires Harmstorf boxship trio

Fast growing German feeder specialist MPC Container Ships has entered into agreements to acquire three boxships from compatriot Reederei Harmstorf for a total of $31.9m.

The three vessels are the Vilano, Cap Pasado and Cap Blanche and will be renamed AS Cleopatra, AS Christiania and AS Carlotta. All three are 2,742 teu in capacity and built in 2006 at German yard Aker MTW Werft.

The deal is scheduled to be closed before the end of the year, taking the MPC fleet to 39 vessels.

MPC Container Ships debuted in April and has quickly built up a fleet of vessels between 1,000 and 3,000 teu, its stated target is to reach a fleet of over 100 ships in total.

In 2009 Grant joined Seatrade responsible for the commercial development of Seatrade’s Asia products. In 2012, with Sam Chambers, he co-founded Asia Shipping Media.
