MPC Container Ships buys Hansa feeder boxship

Germany’s MPC Container Ships continues its rapid growth with the acquisition of 2008-built feeder boxship HS Liszt.

The 1,350 teu vessel has been acquired from compatriot Hansa Treuhand, as reported in Splash’s regular S&P column Weekly Broker last week.

MPC is paying $6.2m for the ship, which will be operated in a 1,300 teu high reefer pool.

Delivery is expected this month, taking the MPC fleet to 26 vessels. The company, which was set up in April, recently revealed ambitions to grow its fleet to over 100 ships.
