Fast growing German feeder containership operator MPC Container Ships is continuing its fleet expansion, having entered into agreements to acquire the 987 teu Annika and 1,049 teu Antigoni from Greek owner Cosmoship.
The total purchase price for the two vessels is $16.1m.
The delivery of the vessels is expected in January 2018, increasing the fleet of the company to 41 vessels.
In December, MPC Container Ships also acquired three boxships from compatriot Reederei Harmstorf for $31.9m.
MPC Container Ships, launched this year, has been the fastest growing containership owner of 2017, in a year that has seen a number of rapid start-ups including Navios and SM Line. It has outlined plans to have a 100-strong fleet soon.
