Myanmar and Bangladesh ready for giant oil and gas developments

 

Singapore: Myanmar and Bangladesh are readying to offer 35 licences for offshore oil and gas blocks in the Bay of Bengal and Andaman Sea having concluded a 30-year territorial dispute earlier this year.
 
In the next two weeks Bangladesh will seek tenders for three deepwater blocks and nine in shallow water.
 
Myanmar will offer 23 offshore licences by the end of the year in both the Bay of Bengal and the Andaman Sea. Six are in shallow water and 17 are deepwater blocks.  [12/10/12]
