Fast expanding Bulgarian owner Navibulgar has contracted four firm and two option 45,000 dwt bulkers at China’s Yangzijiang shipyard.
Navibulgar has opted for its favoured designers for the order, going for Bluetech’s 45 handymax design.
The ships will have a length of 190 m, maximum draught of 10.8 m, a large hold volume for its class and an ice class 1C.
“Bluetech bulk carrier designs have the largest hold volume and deadweight and lowest fuel consumption in their class, making them the most eco-friendly on the market,” the Finnish designer said in a release today.
The designs are marketed worldwide by Clarksons Platou.
At the start of August, Splash reported on Navibulgar ordering four 42,000 dwt bulkers at Chengxi Shipyard, also opting for Bluetech designs.
Navibulgar is Bulgaria’s leading shipowner with its history dating back to 1889. Its fleet today stands at more than 30 vessels.
