New boss at Chembulk Tankers as Jack Noonan steps down

US chemical tanker owner Chembulk Tankers has appointed David Ellis as its new chief executive officer, replacing Jack Noonan who is retiring after 10 years leading the company.

Noonan will continue to advise and counsel Chembulk from his new role of CEO Emeritus.

Ellis joins from Waypoint Solutions, a company he founded, and has over 30 years experience in the chemical and petroleum transportation experience, including over 20 years with Odfjell.

Headquartered in Connecticut, Chembulk Tankers is backed by private equity investment firms KKR and YorkCapital Management. It operates a fleet of 27 chemical tankers and two LPG carriers.

Grant Rowles

Grant spent nine years at Informa Group based in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. He gained strong management experience in publishing, conferences and awards schemes in the shipping and legal areas, working on a number of titles including Lloyd's List. In 2009 Grant joined Seatrade responsible for the commercial development of Seatrade’s Asia products. In 2012, with Sam Chambers, he co-founded Asia Shipping Media.
