New CEO for Bergen Group

Norway’s Bergen Group has appointed Hans Petter Eikeland as its new group CEO, replacing Asle Solheim who resigned in July.

Eikeland has been with Bergen Group since May in the role of chief operating officer, and his appointment is effective immediately for a period until July 1, 2016. The company did not elaborate on what its plans were after this time.

Tor Lars Onarheim, Bergen Group chairman, commented: “The Board is very pleased with Hans Petter Eikeland taking over as CEO as from today. Eikeland has an industrial understanding and vigor that will be important in the restructuring phase taking place in the group related to close up the finalized rig projects, together with ensuring a sound basis for profitable growth in the continuing operations.”

Before joining Bergen Group, Eikland has extensive experience at companies such as Ability Drilling, Odfjell Drilling and Smedvig Drilling.
