News site Splash debuts, promises to shake up maritime media sector

Singapore: Today sees the launch of a brand new shipping news title, Splash, designed to be the site for incisive, exclusive maritime news and views 24/7.

With a network of correspondents spanning the globe, loading in real time, Splash promises to be something refreshingly different to today’s maritime media offerings. The news portal is a subsidiary of Asia Shipping Media (ASM), the publishers of titles including Maritime CEO and SinoShip.

Splash typically has 30 news stories every day. It has kicked off with an archive of more than 8,000 stories. On top of that there is a multilingual aspect to the site, with stories translated into both Arabic and Chinese.

There’s top opinion writers giving fearless, often controversial points of view, as well as a set of data inputs that willbe launched soon to compliment Splash’s tracking of the top 125 listed shipping companies in the world. Readers can also access for free every magazine produced by ASM.

Finally, the site contains Splash TV, where journalists film interviews with top names in shipping on everything from the markets to lifestyle pursuits.

Comments editorial director, Sam Chambers, “The fact is 95% of all shipping media today are basically the same — news aggregators and press release regurgitators with little regard for what their readership actually want. There is a need in shipping for sharp, reliable intelligence and analysis without the endless puff masquerading as news. With spending on correspondents slashed across every shipping title in recent years, Splash is hitting the market with journalists in place across five continents ensuring local knowledge and a constant updating of the site, and more to join soon.”

Backed up by a very strong social media presence, Splash intends to become the number one source for global shipping news in a very short time. Visit the site: www.splash247.com.
