Nordic Shipholding quits Handytankers Pool

In a blow to the Maersk-led Handytankers Pool, Nordic Shipholding has decided to yank five ships and place them elsewhere.

Copenhagen-based Nordic said: “The board believes that pool earnings can be optimized by being a member of a smaller and more focused pool as the company will have a greater influence on the way the pool is operated.”

Three of the redelivered vessels will enter the UPT Handy Pool and two vessels will be employed in the Hafnia Handy Pool.

Other members of the Handytankers Pool include Maersk Tankers, Seaarland, Motia, Chemikalien Seetransport, Marwave Shipmanagement and OSG.
