Ocean Rig drillship awarded Tullow Namibia contract

Offshore driller Ocean Rig has signed a new one-well deal with Tullow Namibia for drilling offshore West Africa, utilising 2011-built drillship Ocean Rig Poseidon.

The contract, which includes options, is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of 2018.

Pankaj Khanna, president and chief executive officer of Ocean Rig, commented: “We are pleased to announce additional work for the Ocean Rig Poseidon. The rig is currently transiting to Walvis Bay, where it will remain in “ready-to-drill” state and continue to be actively marketed for employment.”

Ocean Rig Poseidon recently complete a drilling programme with Statoil offshore Tanzania.

Grant Rowles

Grant spent nine years at Informa Group based in London, Sydney, Hong Kong and Singapore. He gained strong management experience in publishing, conferences and awards schemes in the shipping and legal areas, working on a number of titles including Lloyd's List. In 2009 Grant joined Seatrade responsible for the commercial development of Seatrade’s Asia products. In 2012, with Sam Chambers, he co-founded Asia Shipping Media.
