Ohle Reederei containership runs aground at Hamburg

A containership owned and operated by Germany’s Ohle Reederei, the 1998-built 6,867 dwt Hanni ran aground on Sunday morning just after 5am at the Mühlenberger Loch on the Elbe River to the west of Hamburg.

The vessel was headed from Hamburg Port to Bremerhaven when it lost power, causing it to run aground. Local authorities sent two tugs to assist the refloating of the vessel but failed. The vessel was later refloated at high tide after 5pm and taken back to Hamburg Port where it will undergo an inspection.

There were no injuries or reports of pollution from the incident.
