Oil tanker rocked by explosion off Shandong, three missing

An explosion has rocked oil tanker Xing Long Zhou 569 while it was sailing near Shidao off Shandong yesterday, leading to a major fire on the vessel.

Beihai Rescue Bureau sent a team of vessels and a helicopter for rescue operations after receiving a distress call from the ship.

The rescue team has managed to save 13 crew members and contain the fire within a few hours, while three crew remain missing. The search and rescue operations are still ongoing.

The vessel, which is owned by Zhejiang owner Xing Long Zhou Shipping, is now being towed to Shidao Port for maintenance and investigations into the incident.
