Oldendorff bags Samjin handy resales

Oldendorff Carriers is making the most of bargain bulkers on offer at yards across China. Clarkson Research has linked the German line with taking hulls 1058 and 1059 at Samjin Shipbuilding. The 35,200 dwt ships are due to deliver in the second half of next year, and are costing Oldendorff in the low $15m range each.

“The market for resale Chinese built Handysize units has been extremely quiet this year,” Clarkson Research noted in its most recent weekly report. Values today are more or less in line with those experienced at the end of last year.

In June this year Oldendorff placed an order for one firm and one optional 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulker at Jiangsu Hantong in China.
