Oldendorff returns to Hantong for kamsarmaxes

German owner Oldendorff Carriers has placed an order for one firm and one optional 82,000 dwt kamsarmax bulker at Jiangsu Hantong in China.

Brokers suggest Oldendorff is paying $23.5m for the firm ship with delivery due next year – a clear sign of the increasingly empty nature of many Chinese orderbooks.

Oldendorff knows Hantong well, having ordered a series of newcastlemaxes there back in 2014.
