Oldendorff takes another supramax

Hong Kong-registered Woodstreet, a joint venture between UK-based Clearwater Marine and Norway’s Viken Shipping, has sold a seven-year-old 58,000 dwt supramax, named Rowan 1, for about $10m including a six-month time charter at $6,000 per day.

The sale came to light some weeks back, but it’s only now that the taker of the ship has emerged. Germany’s most active buyer, Oldendorff, is linked to the deal.

The sale leaves the shrinking owner with two similar aged supramaxes, a big drop off from what once was a highly diversified fleet of up to 60 ships. Last year it offloaded a series of 34,000 dwt MPP vessels to European and Chinese interests.
