Piraeus Container Terminal falls foul of EC anti-competition rules

London: Greece granted Piraeus Container Terminal (PCT) and its parent Cosco Pacific an undue advantage over their competitors, which is in breach of EU state aid rules, the European Commission said today.

PCT and Cosco were given certain fiscal benefits such as tax exemptions and preferential accounting treatment.

The companies will be made to pay back the advantage received to the Greek state.

The EC expects Greek authorities to cease granting these advantages to PCT from now on.
