Polembros trashes aframax talk

Polembros Shipping of Greece, which was busy in the secondhand market last week, has trashed reports this week linking it to the purchase of two more aframaxes, the TH Sonata, and TH Symphony, both built in 2008.

In a mail to Splash, managing director George Vakirtzis wrote: “I can confirm that the above rumour is not correct.”

Last week, Splash reported that the 43-year-old company had added a 2006-built aframax tanker, Elia, to its fleet of dry and liquid bulk carriers. It also offloaded an older tanker last week.

As of today Polembros operates a fleet of around 10 bulkers and a similar number of  tankers and a further four suezmax tanker newbuildings scheduled for delivery in 2016 and 2017.
