Price war at Khalifa

Dubai: There’s a price war going on at Abu Dhabi’s new Khalifa Port as companies operating there compete for business. Around 110 companies – from logistics outfits to chandlers – operating within the huge complex have reduced their prices by between 30 to 50% this year in a bid to win customers.

Authorities at Abu Dhabi Ports Company are confident Khalifa will handle 1m teu in calendar 2013.

Khalifa is designed with an initial capacity of 2.5m teu a year, but long term plans could see that rise to 30m.  [22/04/13]
