Prolific Tan Binh makes buying return

One of Southeast Asia’s most prolific buyers of bulkers from 2014 to 2016 has decided the time is right to reenter buying mode. Tan Binh, a private Vietnamese owner, has added the vintage 21,550 dwt Luxury SW bulker for $4.2m from Shih Wei Navigation.

The 1999-built ship has already been renamed Tan Binh 236 and is busy carrying cargo for its new owners.

Last year Tan Binh made headlines for making a tidy profit on its first asset play as an owner, selling the 10-year-old 28,733 dwt Tan Binh 139 to Penna Cement Industries for $7.85m. Tan Binh had bought the ship in December 2015 for $6.3m.
