Rizhao Port vice president dragged into corruption investigation

China’s Rizhao Port has announced that vice president Kong Xianlei is now under investigation by the local discipline inspection authorities for alleged illegal activities.

The investigation into Kong escalates the ongoing anti-corruption investigation into port company. In December 2016, Du Chuanzhi, former president of Rizhao Port, was taken away by authorities after corruption investigations.

Rizhao Port, which is a major bulk port in China’s north, dismissed 89 employees in middle management at the end of 2016 to optimize the personnel structure of the company.
