Samsung Heavy and GasLog close to sealing LNG orders

Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) is being widely tipped to have just about clinched its first order of the year.

Monaco-based Greek outfit GasLog is coming in for up to six 174,000 cu m LNG carriers at SHI, a deal that could be worth as much as $1.2bn. Financing has been fixed largely out of South Korea for the deal GasLog already has a pair of similarly sized gas carriers on order at Hyundai Heavy Industries.

South Korea’s major yards are set to fall a very long way short of their annual sales targets this year.
