Santos Brasil loses ESA container contract at Port of Santos

Brazilian logistics firm Santos Brasil has announced the loss of a contract for work at the major port of Santos, according to Reuters.

The contract covered moving containers for the ESA consortium of shippers, a multinational group that includes Cosco Shipping Holdings, Evergreen Marine Corp, Hapag Lloyd and Hapag Sud.

Instead the contract has gone to Grupo Libra, another Brazilian firm, and Santos Brasil’s biggest rival.

Santos is Latin America’s largest port and this contract for Grupo Libra entails movement of 150,000 containers per year there.
