SBM Offshore linked with elderly Gener8 VLCC

The 318,000 dwt Gener8 Ulysses – built in 2003 and now a floating storage candidate is on subjects for $31 m, according to broker sources. SBM Offshore is linked as a possible buyer of Gener8 Maritime’s oldest VLCC.

SBM’s main focus is on FPSOs. These are either owned and operated by SBM Offshore and leased to its clients or supplied on a turnkey sale basis. Over the last 10 years the company has picked up 12 elderly VLCCs with 10 of the ships already listed as converted in the fleet list VesselsValue.com has on the company. This is SBM’s first purchase in a couple of years.
